Motivation Versus Determination
People rely most on their perceived sense of Motivation in order to decide if they want to partake in the particular event or action. Unfortunately, science teaches us that Motivation is more related to Procrastination than actual performance of the so-called desired task.Â
Why is this? Motivation is a cognitive operation – thinking. How many times have you talked yourself out of something even if it’s good for you by coming up with numerous excuses ?
Determination on the other hand involves direct action. In other works, determination is that emotional and physical push that makes us face uncomfortable homeostasis by making us Do, not overthink or think out of an intention. And , once we actually perform our intentions through determination, motivation builds as this is based on perceived success at something not some sort of wish or ideal.Â
So. Replace your Be Motivated Mindset with Be Determined and perform your goals. Just don’t think about them. Do them and then you will want to repeat them if you’re successful. Therefore, Determination must precede Motivation if one is serious about making lasting change.
